Registering to vote as a high school student is crucial because it allows young people to have a say in decisions that will impact their future. By registering early, students can participate in elections that shape their communities, influence educational policies, and address issues that matter to them. Engaging in the democratic process fosters a sense of responsibility and civic duty, ensuring their voices are heard and counted. It also sets a precedent for lifelong civic involvement, helping to build a more informed and active electorate. 16- and 17-year-olds can pre-register to vote and will automatically become registered on their 18th birthday.
